Chances are that as soon as you started putting your new company ideas together, you named it. And as you jotted down ideas you also were thinking of a logo or brand image to go along…one that looks great on your new business cards. One that people remember when they see it on your new WordPress website.
I found the word logotype when I looked up ‘logo’ on dictionary.com. I love this word.
Also called logotype. a graphic representation or symbol of a company name, trademark, abbreviation, etc., often uniquely designed for ready recognition.Dictionary.com
Once upon a time…the story of the old lady in the pink dress aka MissDazey. I first realized that this little cartoon woman is unique enough to be remembered in 2008. She has been on every post I’ve done online ever since then.
Here’s a short version of a longer story-
Mr. Bruce and I were active in The Pickens Plan that oil giant T. Boone Pickens started in the summer of 2008. The group ran a great website using the ning.com platform (Similar to Facebook.) Members were encouraged to have a page, even have a group. It was great. I started a group call S.O.S. That was a long time ago, can’t remember what that stands for..seniors something?
We went to a meeting a couple of months later to hear T.Boone Pickens speak. It was like meeting a movie star for me..he is one of my business heroes. It was exciting to meet and visit with others that also posted on the Pickens Plan community pages.
One very nice guy ask me about my group page.
“I post as MissDazey” I answered. “I have a little picture of woman on computer as image. I need to change it..not sure to what.”
He replied, “Oh no, don’t change that. I knew who you are as soon as you said MissDazey. You are the woman in a pink dress. I actually look for that pink dress when browsing new posts to read.”
Thus MissDazey is my logotype! Isn’t she adorable?
Please tell me about your business logotype in the comments. How & why did you choose it?
